Maria is a potter in Athens, GA. She focuses on kickwheel thrown functional pieces to be used everyday. Instead of production pottery however, she makes each piece unique, with its own story to bring to your home. The pots are intended for use, hopefully bringing a moment of lightness and tranquility to our generally hectic lives.
southern star studio
Maria founded Southern Star Studio in 2016 as a community pottery studio/gallery where she could work and rent out spaces to other ceramic artists and represent their finished work. It has grown to be a vibrant community of 7 potters and 2 painters working together. The gallery is open every Saturday 10a-4p selling work by Dondero and many of the resident artists. It offers a unique experience to purchase handmade work in a wide variety of styles by many artists made right on the property!
